Peeps,
Look what is temporarily living in our basement:
I ordered him a month ago and he finally made his grand entrance last week. It’s our new bathroom sink vanity for the downstairs powder room.
I’m a little hesitant to post about this project because we haven’t started the demo yet and knowing us, it’s going to take us a looong while to actually complete it. But perhaps making it public will give me the much needed kick in the proverbial pants to get the ball moving.
We’re actually thinking two bathroom remodels: we’ll start with the downstairs powder room and if that turns out well, then we’ll move upstairs to the main bathroom. Which is a much bigger project as it would require tub and shower work.
Anyway, here is our very plain (and white) powder room:
Here is the plan (subject to change):
Tasks:
1. We’re going to keep and refinish the penny tile floors. I love the period details of the look, but not the cleaning. Hopefully a new glaze will keep them looking fresh(er) longer.
2. Add board and batten wainscoting to the lower walls (below the current chair rail). Paint a satin white.
3. Paint the upper walls grey.
4. Replace the vanity with the guy above. [It’s this one, FYI]
5. Add some pretty, colorful art
So we might end up with something that looks similar to this when we’re done. Hopefully we’ll have preserved the classic look of our house that we love so much while also providing a new update.
Wish us luck. For more bathroom ideas, check out my pinterest board here.
