Confession of the day: I love reading the New York Times' Saturday
wedding articles. I have bawled my eyes out on more than one occasion.
Today there was an interesting story about couples choosing friends and family members as officiants for their special day. We had a longtime family friend perform our wedding and I felt it was a good fit, as we aren't very religious.
One of the sweetest ceremonies I've attended recently was that of my brother- and sister-in-law. Their officiant was the childhood best friend of the groom and I thought he did an amazing job; capturing the spirit of the day perfectly - if he gets bored with his day job, he definitely has backup career options in the wedding industry.
