We're not having much of a party for Ben's birthday; hopefully just a few close family members. But I couldn't resist buying a couple invitations and some fancy decorations. Even if it's not a huge bash, I feel like we should have a few special touches. Something for his baby book.
So here are the invitations:
They're blank inside and after a hugely unsuccessful attempt at running them through my printer, in which the damn machine completely munched one of my precious cards, I resorted to printing out an insert on card stock and tucking it into the card:

I was feeling a little disgruntled about the whole thing because the card stock insert was so very plain and boring. Thinking to spice them up a bit, I cast around in my stores for some bright paper to glue to the reverse of the insert, giving it a bit more heft and a nice, unexpected pop of color. I had nothing, especially in a brown, blue or orange that would match the front.
Which is when I happened upon this enveloped sitting on the dining room table:

So I cut them out and glued them to the back of the insert. Unfortunately I only had two orange envelopes but I found a nice blue tissue paper that also looks pretty. So a few of the other cards got that treatment.
