I think perhaps that I've mentioned that we're in the demolition stage of the house remodel? The stage in which we get to tear everything out and then worry about building it back up later.
This is our upstairs hallway.
It's a bit narrow and confining.
We're planning on removing the current pony wall and replacing it with a wooden banister. Hopefully it'll open up the space a bit and will make the staircase feel less tunnel-like.
This weekend was an exploratory demo: take off the trim, tear out the plaster, and have a good look-see at the interior structure.
We have come to discover that we do not love removing plaster. It's messy.
So this is where we're at now. The tricky part will be removing the plaster from the other side; the stairwell side. We'll keep you posted on how that goes.
