This is no mean feat, let me tell you. Seattle Public Library has a lot o' books.
It occurred to me that while many of you are familiar with the pregnancy milestones, many of you probably know about as much as we did, two months ago. Which wasn't a whole lot, frankly.
So, here is my Beginners Guide to Pregnancy
Step 1. Get pregnant. Easier said than done, oftentimes.
A pregnancy is estimated to last approximately 40 weeks. Nowadays, the medical folk are hesitant to give parents an actual due date, instead preferring to tell us that our baby should make an appearance between three weeks before to two weeks after the end of the 40th week.
I still requested a due date.
Our little peanut is due on February 5, 2011. Poor kid, right in the middle of winter. Sorry, BabyJ.
The first 12 weeks of pregnancy comprises the First Trimester.
Which means that we should be done with the throwing up, the loss of appetite, and the queasy stomach around June 24, 2010 (note: Not true. Still feeling not-so-great, and we're working on Week 13). Which can't come soon enough, in my humble opinion.
Our Second Trimester (Weeks 13-27) runs until November 6th, 2010.
And, last but not least, the Third Trimester (Weeks 28-40) ends, not surprisingly, on February 5th, 2011.
Which seems like a very, very long time away.
Especially since I'm only on Week 9.
But, I supposed that Week 9 is close to Week 10 and that is technically a quarter of the way finished. Only 75% more to go.
Eh, still a long time away, no matter how you slice it.
We're having our baby at Group Health's Capital Hill hospital and the first meeting with our midwife is next week. Time to get this show on the road.
