Lady: My, you are soooooo big!
Me: Excuse me?
Lady: Look at that lovely coat!
Me: [looking down at my tatty polar fleece]. Um, well, thank you.
Lady: It looks like you just went for a swim. What fuuun!
Me: Oh! You mean Bailey!! Yeah. He had a great time. Chased a few ducks around. Well, we'd better be going, have a nice day.
Lady: So long, sweetie!
Me: Um, yeah. bye.
A little eye contact would have been nice. Or a hello. Bailey, on the other hand, loved every minute of it.
