Mom found out about the weekly coffee event that one of our Washington State Senators, Patty Murray, has with her constituents each Wednesday. Senator Murray gave a summary of her sponsored bills and discussed the President Obama-sponsored stimulus package. Most of the constituents turned out to be lobbyists (Senator Murray, please don't forget about the Barley Farmers of Washington State!, etc) but it was nice to meet her and the senate-viewing tickets that her office provided were great as well.

Washington State is one of only three states (CA, ME, WA) in which both their senators are women. Hooray for Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.

As the wife of a guy that measures 6'5" (without shoes), it's not often that I get to be the taller half. But believe me, I towered over the Senator. I felt like a giraffe at a prairie dog convention. :)
