We took a nice quiet walk down to the Santa Ana River this morning. It's looking pretty low. Bailey had a short swim and then it was back to the house to beat the heat.
The most interesting part of the walk was spotting this crawdad that was hanging out near one of the storm drains.
I went to a Biology Department BBQ once where some students captured crawdads from the Willamette Mill Stream and cooked them up for supper. Evidently, they're big in the south but I'd not had them previously.
Recipe here.
