Thanks to all of you that have inquired about the fires. We're safe here in Santa Ana but things aren't looking good for lots of friends and coworkers. There is lots of ash in the air, trees are down and is smells like a (bad) bbq. We're hoping that the Santa Ana winds die down tonight so the fire fighters can have a little relief.
My major disappointment (which is relatively minor in comparison) is that my favorite regional park, the one where we go hiking every month, has likely burned. That included both Holy Jim Falls and Santiago Creek Trail. Majeska Canyon is also burning in Clevland National Forest. We're closest to the Santiago Canyon Fire which is affecting the cities of Tustin, Irvine, Orange, Lake Forest, and Cook's Corner.
As you can see, the fire is pretty close to Irvine. Oh, my beloved park!
The cajon fire is the one we drove through yesterday, see pictures below the Las Vegas Pictures.
