It's nutmeg! If I remember correctly, they separate the outer husk, removed the cool red-ish thing, and grind the seed inside to produce nutmeg. Yum, my favorite spice!

Mystery Spice
Can anybody guess what type of spice is derived from this seed pod? Last week was the first time I'd used by SLR camera in a really long time and this picture happened to be left on the roll from our trip to St. Lucia.
