I used to have a turtle just like this one. It's a red-eared slider. We caught mine out of Lake Washington and named him Tortellini. He lived in a kiddie pool on our porch and ate raw hamburger meat everyday. We finally took pity on him and returned him (or her) to the lake. We aquired a second turtle several years later who actually, believe it or not, ran away one day when I put him in the pond in our yard. I was only gone for a couple of minutes to answer the phone but Tortuga (we like the "T" names) sprinted away only to reappear a year later in our neighbor's pond. He's probably still there, eating goldfish and frogs and trying to stay away from the racoons.
